related to the famous Venezuelan doctor Arnoldo Gabaldón. This
character is considered one of the epidemiologists of the 20th century,
for his great contributions against the eradication of malaria in
Venezuela.
Gabaldón was born in the year 1909 in the Trujillo state, at the age of
15 he moved from his hometown to study medicine at the Central
University of Venezuela (UCV). During his training as a student, he also
participated in the Bacteriology and Parapsychology laboratory of the
Social Health Department.
Later, in 1930, he traveled to Europe and earned a certification in
malariology from the Hamburg Institute of Tropical Diseases in Germany.
Three years later, he received a scholarship to study at the School of
Hygiene and Public Health in the United States, where he received a
doctorate in hygiene sciences.
Once in Venezuela, Dr. Arnoldo Gabaldón founded the Special Directorate
of Malariology of the Ministry of Health and Social Assistance. From
this entity made multiple contributions to implement a national plan
against malaria.
From his position as minister of health and social assistance, he was
personally in charge of evaluating sanitary practices, increasing the
budget for the prevention of infectious diseases, and researching
malaria-causing species in rural areas of Venezuela.
In 1988, the Maracay School of Malariology was baptized with the name of
"Instituto Arnoldo Gabaldón" in honor of its founder. He died in
Caracas on September 1, 1990, leaving a legacy of fighting for the
public health of all Venezuelans and the eradication of tropical
diseases.

Dr. Arnoldo Gabaldón, in addition to showing various information on
